About Chocolate Cafes

Chocolate Cafe Story

Roy Hastings a master Patisserie and Chocolatier, Dorchester trained, opened the first Chocolate Café in late 1990s in Windsor. Despite this café only having 7 small tables inside and 13 tables outside it became very successful and popular. Famous for its homemade cakes and freshly prepared food as well as The Chocolate Cafes signature range of hot chocolates.

In 2008 following the financial crash and the collapse of her mortgage business Vivienne joined Roy in a new venture and opened the Chocolate Café located on the river of Henley. This has 90 seats and soon became an overwhelming success employing 14 staff as well as a fulltime pastry Chef.

In 2015 Roy had retired down South and Vivienne decided that other places deserved their own Chocolate Café. Following a visit from a rep selling credit card paper during which Vivienne asked him to let her know if he ever heard of a café for sale she was offered the Goring “Village Café”. This reminded Vivienne of the original café in Windsor and after a complete refurbishment a 55 seat Chocolate Café opened. With an upstairs and outside seating areas the Goring Chocolate Café was launched.

The landlords of the Goring café were so impressed by the café’s makeover they approached Vivienne to join them at Holme Grange Craft Village Centre. The Chocolate Café brand was proud to bring its philosophy of freshly prepared food homemade cakes, the fab range of hot chocolates coupled with friendly customer service to the Wokingham area.
